Några snubbar diskuterar om X ska uttalas, och i såfall hur:
Aix (pronounce the x), Chamonix (don't pronounce the x), Gex (pronounce), Château d'Oex (don't pronounce).

It's even more complicated than you think. i mean you will always find french people who pronounce "chamoniks" even though the majority (?) say "chamoni".
Here is another example with another letter.
In the area where I live, there's a village called "Castilly". Most french people would pronounce the "s". : Ca-s-tilly. But the locals don't and say "Catilly".
